About Bachata

From the rural lands of the Dominican Republic during the early 1960s comes the genre known as bachata. Its lyrical themes range from alcoholism to the loss of one’s true love to the declaration of undying love; and it’s predominantly sung by men. From its origins to about a decade ago, the romantic bolero-inspired genre was mainly heard at bars and brothels. The earliest recordings known are from José Manuel Calderón. Today, bachata is one of the most popular Latin musical forms. Its simple verses and swaying dance and music has won the hearts of many. Batanga’s Bachata Radio plays all your favorite hits from the biggest bachatero classics as well as the fresh and modern bachata youth. It is pure amor y desamor via electric guitars, guiras, and bongos. ¡Pa’ que te cortes una vena!
