About Boleros

There are diverse theories of the origin of this lovely music genre. Most of them state Spain to be its birthplace, although the first bolero, “Tristezas,” was produced in Santiago de Cuba by José Pepe Sánchez in 1886. This song gave official origin to the classic bolero accompanied by guitars and percussion. Other Caribbean countries took the product that Cuba created as their own, which facilitated the fusion and development of the genre and produced, as a result, the many different sub-genres. This station is dedicated to the remarkable composers and singers of bolero who transformed love into music with the most romantic and tropical melodies of all times.
