About Tejano

Whether you call it tejano or tex-mex, it’s all Onda! Don’t mistake this genre for other regional Mexican sorts. Born in Southern Texas this style is as big as Texas itself, and its breadth and scope rival the most established genres in the U.S. La Onda is most popular among Americans of Mexican descent living in the Southwest region of the US. With its light sounds, tejano music has been influenced by orchestral norteño, country, and blues, among other American persuasions. Despite a decline in recent years, modern conjunto and orchestra-based tejano music has stretched beyond Texas touching fans across the country. We’ve been inspired to program a playlist with today’s newest tejano jams, and the classic hits too! We love the music and believe there’s a stable of talented artists that need to be heard. We’re just trying to help keep La Onda alive, online!
